Legislator looks to memorialize South St. Paul voting history

Rep. Anne Claflin is seeking funding for a monument to memorialize the historic vote, which took place in South St. Paul almost 100 years ago.

Almost 100 years after the ratification of the 19th Amendment, which gave women in the U.S. the right to vote, a state legislator is looking to memorialize the role women in South St. Paul played in voting rights history.

Tackling lead on the East Side and across the state


courtesy of East Side Neighborhood Development Company For the first year of a program created by the East Side Neighborhood Development Company — called the LeadSafeMN Initiative — three East Side census tracts where children showed high levels of lead in their blood were the focus. LeadSafeMN aims to create funding sources and resources to bring lead poisoning down to zero. The initiative will eventually address the 40 census tracts statewide where kids are testing for high levels of lead.

Lead poisoning is often thought of as a problem from the past, one that has been solved through requirements for safer paints and materials in homes.

Inver Grove Heights changes dog leashing and licensing requirements

After several months of work and discussion, the Inver Grove Heights City Council approved the third and final reading of changes to dog licensing, dog leashing and dangerous dog ordinances at its April 8 meeting.
