LETTER: Moller: Let’s make Minnesota work better for everyone

To the Editor:

The legislative session is just past its midpoint, and I’m excited by our work improving the lives of all Minnesotans. My colleagues in the House and I have advanced specific plans to end our opioid crisis, reduce distracted driving by requiring “hands-free” phone calls and prevent senseless tragedies caused by gun violence. The House approved my proposal to strengthen Minnesota’s sexual harassment law by a wide, bipartisan margin. This will help ensure workplaces are safe environments.

We recently announced our Minnesota Values Budget proposal, which strengthens our state by investing in things Minnesotans care most about. Students deserve world-class schools — including teachers, support staff and programming — to reach their full potential. Like many of you, my children attend Mounds View Public Schools. I’ve heard from many of you about the importance of our public schools statewide. With historic investments in E-12 education and a tuition freeze at our public colleges and universities, we can ensure a pathway to success.

Our budget also helps us protect health care for Minnesotans. For those who purchase health insurance on the individual market, our plan delivers direct rebates to consumers to address high premiums. We have also introduced a number of bills to lower the cost of prescription medications.

I’m honored to represent you, and hope you’ll contact me with feedback by phone at 651-296-0141 or email at rep.kelly.moller@house.mn. You are also invited to attend my next “Chat with Kelly” at Shore 96 in Shoreview on Sunday, April 28, at 1:30 p.m.

Rep. Kelly Moller
