Becker-Finn: Good policy before politics

To the Editor:

As a proud parent of two daughters in the Roseville Area School District, I want to express my thanks to State Rep. Jamie Becker-Finn for her support of public education. Among her priorities — in addition to full funding of our K-12 system — is support of universal access to pre-kindergarten opportunities for our youngest learners. When all kids are ready to learn, it benefits all of us and makes it more likely that they will excel in elementary school.

She knows that there are a host of factors that impact education. If a child is hungry, or homeless, or without adequate health care or a safe place to do homework, it is going to be harder for that child to learn. With this in mind, Jamie supports full funding of special education programming and the creation of full-service community schools, which could provide wrap-around services so children can get what they need while they are at school.

Jamie is definitively one of the hardest working legislators in the Minnesota House. She does her homework and has always put good policy before politics. For these and many other reasons, I hope that you will join me in supporting Jamie Becker-Finn for re-election to the Minnesota House of Representatives in District 42B.
