Unearthing family roots

Former director of the Minnesota Genealogical Society and currently an active participant in MGS programs, Tom Rice will present Part II of his programs on improving skills for using the Internet for family history research at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15. 

Rice will suggest methodology for using different websites for effective searches and will assess the quality of information available on the web. 

Rice will also explore additional repositories and mega sites such as Linkpendium, WorldGenWeb and Rootsweb. He will give out supplementary handouts and will list numerous websites (including their links) that will be useful for researchers and summarize search strategies. 

Tom Rice, PhD, CG is a Board Certified, professional genealogist, lecturer and writer. He is a director of the Irish Genealogical Society International and managing editor of their award-winning journal, “The Septs.”

This program will be held at the Dakota County Historical Society, 130 Third Avenue North in South St. Paul.
